Welcome Prospective Kidspointer, Thanks for coming to the site and I hope you find it a useful and enjoyable experience as well as a useful addition to your big parenting toolbox. The site is totally FREE to use so you can get registered and start using it straight away to see how it all works. The Kidspoints system was born after myself and Kidspoints' creator Ashley Faull sat on a beach in Bournemouth talking about our respective children, positive parenting and the trials and tribulations of daddydom. Getting kids on message with what you want from them, we discussed, could be a lovely challenge sometimes. But it could also be like pushing water uphill or herding cats. With five kids in the 3-10 age group between us - Sophie, Ben and Luke are mine, Harrison and Mackenzie are Ash's - we'd both tried Starcharts to help with positive parenting and encouraging good behaviour, but the kids (and us!) got bored very quickly with it all. Ashley had gone on to create a rudimentary Kidspoints system for his boys which worked very successfully. "Hey!?" we thought "Wouldn't it be great if there was something ONLINE that would really engage the kids and help them work towards goals by gaining points and doing tasks round the house, or doing their homework on time or brushing their teeth twice a day or whatever is set for them to do." And "Hey!?" we thought again "Wouldn't it be even better if we could bring it to life when we're out and about by using our mobile phone to add and subtract points when we're in the park, on the beach or chasing after them down a supermarket aisle trying to avoid a coronary." "Yea, great, smashing, super. So where's this Holy Grail website then?" "Er. I've just checked. There doesn't appear to be one out there." "I know - let's build one then!" was our collective thought. So Voila Kidspoints.co.uk, taking its first tottering steps, blinking wide-eyed and enthusiastically onto the world wide web with a goal to help long-suffering parents everywhere. In a nutshell, Kidspoints is a great reward system for kids both online and via parents' mobiles. Here's how it works… Register for FREE and set up a personalized task chart for your child. Parents and kids agree a reward from our Toys/Rewards section – or you can choose any reward from anywhere you like. Points are earned by successfully completing the task – how many and how often is up to you and you can also add bonus or minus points along the way. The points total required to successfully earn the agreed reward is set at 100 – keeping things nice and easy for you! One great feature of Kidspoints is that you can also add and subtract points by TEXT, turning kidspoints into a supernanny in your pocket for you to use anywhere – down the park, in the supermarket, on the way to school or anywhere! You'll get a text back to confirm that the points have been added or minused from your child's chart. In many ways I hope the TEXT feature means that you find the Kidspoints system most useful when you are NOT sitting in front of a computer. We've tried to keep the system as simple as possible so we've set the target at 100 for every reward but you can change the daily task as often as you like as your child heads towards that target. When reaching the points total the kids get the all important reward – for now that part is down to you though we will provide suggestions and useful links to some great toys and rewards.
